The film is a satire about anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States, and follows reporters at fictional cable network ‘News Net’.

Beau Bridges won the 1997 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Special for his role as Governor Jim Farley.
