Rock the Kasbah
2015
Rock the Kasbah is a 2015 comedy directed by Barry Levinson and written by Mitch Glazer.
Inspired by the 2009 documentary Afghan Star, the movie features Bill Murray as a talent manager who embarks on a USO tour to Afghanistan with his sole client. Unexpectedly left stranded in Kabul, he stumbles upon a remarkable young Afghan girl named Salima, gifted with an extraordinary voice. Recognizing her immense talent, he persuades the producer of Afghan Star to give her a chance in Afghanistan's equivalent of American Idol.
