The Natural is a 1984 sports film directed by Barry Levinson, and based on Bernard Malamud's 1952 novel of the same name. It stars Robert Redford, Glenn Close, and Robert Duvall.
The film follows Roy Hobbs, an individual with great “natural” baseball talent, and his career in MLB on the New York Knights.
The film has been called “arguably the best baseball movie ever made,” and was nominated for four Academy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award.
