Sphere is a 1998 thriller directed and produced by Barry Levinson, and starring Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson. It is based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Michael Crichton.

Dr. Norman Goodman (Hoffman), a psychiatrist who specializes in crash survivors, is called to a location in the Pacific Ocean for what he believes to be a plane crash. Aboard a naval ship, he meets biochemist Dr. Beth Halperin (Stone), and mathematician Dr. Harry Adams (Jackson), and the three join together in hopes of determining the origins of a spherical object at the bottom of the ocean.
