Envy

2004

Envy is a 2004 black comedy directed by Barry Levinson and starring Ben Stiller and Jack Black.

Tim and Nick are best friends, neighbors, and co-workers, but their harmonious relationship takes an unexpected turn when Nick's seemingly impractical plan to get rich quickly turns out to be a huge success. Tim had initially dismissed Nick's idea and declined to participate in the venture, but he soon becomes a witness to Nick's skyrocketing wealth and finds himself struggling with envy.

As Tim's world spirals into chaos, Envy explores the consequences of success, envy, and the unforeseen influence of an outsider on their once-stable friendship and lives.
